Guidance for writing a Letter of Intent for when a group wishes to have some work commenced by the contractor before a formal contract has been drawn up.
Some contractors request up-front payment - this may cause a cash-flow problem for groups with no cash reserves as Community Spaces pays grant claims in arrears. Groundwork UK can provide Community Spaces grant recipients with a letter to give to contractors, should they need one, explaining the process for payment. Please contact your Grants Officer for this. Please note that we will need to see original invoices for work carried out with your grant claims.

These Terms & Conditions must be adhered to by all community groups that are awarded a grant from the Community Spaces programme. You should receive a copy of these Terms & Conditions with your offer of grant letter.
One of the conditions of receiving a Community Spaces grant is that any capital expenditure (a single item or a series of related items) costing more than £10,000 must provide evidence that the work has been put out to competitive tender. This document provides successful Community Spaces projects with information about tenders and the tender process.
